As a kid, when summer began drawing to a close there was a little sense of melancholy...questions began filling my mind like did I really maximize my time playing outside and building forts and swimming for hours on end at the pool? Did I get through enough Babysitter's Club books to really feel as though I have taken advantage of every spare moment of freedom? And then the school supply lists would arrive and from that moment on it was full-on excitement for the coming year because I knew I would get to start the new school season with a BRAND NEW TRAPPER KEEPER.
Oh, the bliss.
Apparently, I still hadn't gotten my fill of office supplies when I got into college, because I spent the next three summers and Christmas holidays working at Staples. Now, I will tell you that there is a special kind of hell that involves restocking the pen aisle at 1 AM after a full day of dealing with customers who may not be mentally equipped to deal with the stress of back-to-school shopping (especially when the power went out and we were forced to ring up 200+ items BY HAND ohtheagony). But even though it was college, and even though I was well past the age of Lisa Frank pencil cases, it was still fun to go through the store on my last day and get my own school supplies...as uninspiring as they may have been.
All of this to say, there is now a company that has taken the boring vinyl binders and ballpoint pens of the adult office supply world and infused some life and good design into them. I first heard about Poppin this week and may have spent quite a lot a totally normal amount of time perusing the site and making lists of things I want picking out a few things I need (so what if I already have a laptop case...maybe I need a backup. That's cute. And has yellow straps). Some of my favorite things are above.
